Begin Oct 14th
Wednesdays, 4:00 – 5:15
The Capitol Hill Jazz Band is a student ensemble from Capitol Hill Gifted and Talented school in St. Paul, directed by Jack Breen. These young musicians are building their jazz chops and raising funds to support their music program.
Walker West Music Academy has been a home for music in St. Paul since 1988, rooted in the African American cultural experience and open to everyone. Their advanced jazz ensemble — also directed by Jack Breen — joined us for an incredible concert in March 2025.
Learn more about Walker West →A select ensemble of dedicated middle school musicians who study and perform jazz music in the big band style and explore improvisation.
The band is 6 saxophones, 6 trombones, 6 trumpets, 2 pianos, 2 percussion, 1 bass and 1 guitar, led by jazz director Jack Breen. Rehearsal is in the Capitol Hill band room; concerts happen around St. Paul.
Money shouldn't keep anyone out of the band. If the $150 dues are hard for your family, scholarships and payment plans are available. Just ask Mr. Breen.
